Lauren Leader is a single mom to two wonderful girls Stella – a 4th grader at Harrison Avenue School and Serena (nursery school). If elected, she would be the only woman on the Harrison Town Board and the only parent with kids currently in Harrison Schools! She’s committed to strongly representing Harrison parents and teachers on the board.
While she moved to Harrison just a few years ago, she has deep roots in the area including her grandparents who lived nearby and has spent much of her life in and around the Harrison area. She has supported many community efforts in Harrison including as a founding member of the Sunnyridge Neighborhood Association, the Harrison Newcomers Welcome Group and the Coalition to Prevent Westchester Airport Expansion. She is an active member of the Jewish Community Center of Harrison and an enthusiastic supporter of the Harrison Holiday project. She is deeply committed to this wonderful town and looks forward to serving the community.
Lauren has spent most of her career trying to make the world better. She’s an author and advocate for women’s equality. She is the Co-Founder and CEO of All In Together, the only non-partisan organization training women on civics and civic leadership. Since its founding in 2014, she has trained nearly 10,000 women and reached millions through her advocacy work.
In addition to her charitable work, Lauren works with and advises a wide range of corporations and organizations on diversity strategy, public policy, communications and corporate social responsibility. Her first book, Crossing the Thinnest Line (Hachette Center Street, September 2016) examines the importance of diversity to the future of America. She is also a frequent speaker, lecturer, and panel member at a wide array of conferences and a regular commentator on MSNBC, HLN, Fox News and other outlets. Lauren was a 2018 Presidential Leadership Scholar. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a graduate of Barnard College.
