Dear Friends and Supporters:
I cannot remember a time when our country has been more politically divided. Does it have to be this way in Harrison? After more than a decade of growing local partisanship, can we bridge our differences and work together for the common good?
I believe we can.
Here in Harrison, we cannot allow national partisan divisions to overtake our local needs. National political disagreements should not define us. Our community issues are not Democratic or Republican, they are local: schools, roads, libraries, sanitation, recycling.
These priorities are not red or blue. Proper management of our town has nothing to do with party affiliation. No matter who you voted for in the last presidential election, if there is a pothole on your street, you want it fixed.
Sadly, the news media and social media constantly bombard us with divisive messages. But Harrison town officials must stay above this divisiveness and welcome everyone’s viewpoints.
We can all learn from the example of the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Antonin Scalia. These two titans were as ideologically opposed as two justices could be. They were also the best of friends. They worked harmoniously for decades on an often-contentious Supreme Court. We in Harrison should move forward in this same bipartisan spirit to address issues facing our community.
One particular issue that Harrison Democrats and Republicans should address equally is fiscal responsibility. Town officials owe you the highest degree of care when it comes to your hard-earned tax dollars.
The Moving Harrison Forward team of Frank Gordon for Mayor, and Rachel Berkey and Adam Weiner for Town Board, will be receptive to new and fresh solutions to longstanding problems. We will account for every dollar that we spend on your behalf and, whenever possible, lower your tax burden. We will work collaboratively and productively with incumbent Town Board members Lauren Leader and Fred Sciliano to resolve problems for the benefit of all Harrison residents.
We are eager to reach across the aisle and get to work!
