Dear Friends and Supporters:
The emotional and physical toll from the storm can make applying online for governmental aid daunting. Having face-to-face contact with trained governmental representatives can make all the difference.
On Sunday, mayoral candidate Frank Gordon accompanied beloved Harrison ISG Gymnastics owner Gina Ryan to the Disaster Recovery Center (169 Mt Pleasant Ave.) in Mamaroneck to apply for financial assistance for her business. The building that housed her gym, at 151 Crotona Ave., took on 41 inches of water during the recent storm, destroying the gym’s entire contents. Ms. Ryan will need upwards of $200,000 to rebuild.
The helpful staff at the Center made quick work of the process. The staff informed Ms. Ryan that there are currently no grants for small businesses impacted by the storm but the federal Small Business Administration offers low interest loans for qualifying businesses. Ms. Ryan and Frank were able to register ISG Gymnastics with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and complete the SBA loan application in about an hour.
All of Harrison wishes Ms. Ryan a speedy rebuilding so she can get back to what she does best: fostering a fun and loving environment in which children can grow and thrive.
